Mole Day

Percaya atau tidak ada hari yang di namakan “Mole Day”, bahkan mungkin kamu baru mendengarnya sekarang? 

“Mole Day” adalah hari raya tidak resmi yang dirayakan oleh orang-orang kimia di Amerika Utara pada 23 Oktober antara jam  6:02 AM dan 6:02 PM. Waktu dan tanggal itu diturunkan dari tetapan Avogadro.

How to Celebrate National Mole Day

·         Send a Mole Day  greeting card to friends.

·         Drink a glass of molasses milk (201g [ 7.1 oz ] of C₆H₁₂NNaO₃S = 1 mole) at 6:02am & pm.

·         Bake and eat 6.02 molasses cookies.

·         Drink 1 mol of H₂O (18 g or 0.63oz) of water at 6:02am.

·         Ask people to guess how many moles you have in a brown paper bag.

The Ten Commolements

1.       Thou shalt not use 6.02 x 10²³ in vain.

2.       Thou shalt not use the term mole if thou has no true knowledge of the term mole.

3.       Thou shalt not kill a mole.

4.       Thou shalt not covet your neighbor's mole.

5.       Thou shall always remember to celebrate Mole Day.

6.       Thou shalt not disparage Mole Day.

7.       Thou shalt not use a mole out of season.

8.       Thou shalt always honor the one who introduced thou to Mole Day.

9.       You shalt always keep sacred 10/23.

10.    Thou shalt always remember these commolments or thou will never properly celebrate Mole Day.

"Mole Day" aslinya ada dalam artikel yang dimuat di dalam The Science Teacher pada tahun 1980. Terinspirasi oleh artikel itu, Maurice Oehler, guru kimia SMA dari Praire du Chien, Wisconsin, mendirikan the National Mole Day Foundation (NMDF) pada 15 Mei 1991.
